Western Michigan gymnastics broke more records in its senior day outing against Northern Illinois Saturday. The team put up a program best 197.100 team score to win the day. Its record moves to 10-4 overall and 4-1 in conference play. The program record comes just 13 days after the team broke its previous record with a score of 196.750.
Cassie St. Clair put up a score of 9.925 on vault tying the program record. Payton Murphy also recorded a career best all-around score as the senior scored a 39.550.
St. Clair won the vaults to start WMU’s historic day. Murphy came in second with a score of 9.850. The team scored a 49.250 which is a team meet record on vault.
Murphy and Sarah Moravansky had team highs for WMU on the bars as they each put up 9.875. Dani Petrousek came right behind with a score of 9.825.
The Broncos also broke the team meet record on beam with a score of 49.375. Amanda Gruber won the beam with a 9.925 score. Murphey and Moravansky tied for second as they each scored a 9.900.
Ronni Binstock posted a career high 9.925 on floor. Murphy also scored a 9.925 and DonnaKathryn Roy came just behind with a 9.900 score. The team scored a 49.300 to ease past NIU and win the day 197.100 to 195.450.
WMU will compete in its final regular season matchup of the season next Sunday at 1:00 p.m. at Ball State.
