Bronco softball dropped the weekday doubleheader Tuesday to the Bowling Green Falcons, losing the first game 3-1 and the second game by a score of 4-3. These losses give the Broncos an 11-27 overall record on the season.

The first game remained scoreless until the fourth inning, when WMU got on the board with a Logan Carter solo home run. The Falcons got its bats going in the fifth inning, scoring three runs thanks to RBI from Madi McCoy, Sarah Gonzalez and Payton Hamm that would give Bowling Green the 3-1 win.

For WMU, Mackenzie Swinehart went 2-for-3 in the first game. Autumn Godwin was dealt the loss as she allowed three earned runs in 4.2 innings pitched. Sydney Stefanick pitched 1.1 innings, only allowing two hits while no runners crossed home plate.

In the second game, the Broncos got on the board quickly, scoring two runs off of RBI singles from Courtney Farrish and Carter to take a 2-0 lead over Bowling Green. WMU added to its lead when Farrish hit an RBI double that would drive home Kaylen Glenfield to build the lead to 3-0. The Bronco lead, however, was short lived as the Falcons would have a three-run second inning to tie the contest at 3-3.

The game remained tied until the sixth inning when Peyton Dolejs scored off of a WMU throwing error from a sacrifice bunt. The run would be the decider that would give the Falcons the win.

In the second game for WMU, Farrish went 2-for-4 with two RBI and Glenfield went 2-for-3 and scored two runs.

Rissa Bajusz started for WMU and allowed three runs in just 1.1 innings pitched while Reily Galloway suffered the loss as she allowed just one run off of four hits in the final 4.2 innings.

The Broncos will host the Toledo Rockets in another doubleheader at Ebert Field Wednesday. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
