Western Michigan football earned a pair of MAC West Player of the Week honors after the school’s win over Pitt Saturday.
Kaleb Eleby was named Offensive Player of the Week and Zaire Barnes took home Defensive Player of the Week honors as the Broncos picked up a win over a Power 5 school for the first time since 2016.
Eleby completed 23 of his 35 pass attempts, throwing for 337 yards and three touchdowns without an interception. He now has 702 yards and five touchdowns this season without turning the ball over through three games.
Barnes collected a career-high 10 tackles, two of which came in the backfield to go along with a pair of fumble recoveries to provide a spark for the Bronco defense. Both of his fumble recoveries led to WMU touchdowns on the ensuing drive.
Eleby, Barnes and the Broncos are back in action Saturday at 2 p.m. from Waldo Stadium to take on reigning Mountain West champion San José State. The game will be streamed on ESPN+.
