WMU men’s basketball announced that it has signed Gus Etchison and Owen Lobsinger to its 2021 recruiting class.
Etchison is a 6’0 point guard from Arcadia, Ind. and Lobsinger is a 6’8 forward from Flint. Both players announced their commitment earlier this year but had to wait for the early signing period to sign their national letters of intent.
Etchison is rated as a two-star point guard by Verbal Commits, and he put up 24.9 points per game, 5.0 rebounds and 3.7 assists last season at Hamilton Heights High School as a junior.
"We are thrilled to welcome Gus to our basketball family. Gus is a talented guard with a great scoring ability," said head coach Clayton Bates. "Gus is an athletic play-maker. He can play on or off the ball and will fit extremely well into our system."
Etchison was named Third Team All-State by Prep Hoops and the Indianapolis Star. He has been named to the All-Hoosier Conference team all three years in high school.
Lobsinger committed to the Broncos in July, and Verbal Commits has him rated as a two-star power forward, while 247 Sports has him listed at small forward without a star rating. Last season at Flint Powers Catholic High School, Lobsinger averaged 13.2 points, 9.0 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game.
"We are thrilled to welcome Owen to the Bronco Basketball family." said Bates. "Owen is a talented and versatile forward. Owen is a great shooter who can stretch the defense and is extremely skilled. At 6'8" Owen also brings the ability to play multiple positions."
Lobsinger was named to an All-State Honorable Mention and earned All-Saginaw Valley South First Team honors by MLive last year.
