Aniya Davis will represent Western Michigan track and field in the discus event at the NCAA East Regional Championships.

The senior will head to Jacksonville, Fla. next Saturday as the No. 14 ranked athlete in the region and is one of two participants from the Mid-American Conference.

She qualified for the event with a throw earlier this season at the GVSU Extra Weekend meet, where she recorded a distance of 54.91 meters. That throw would eclipse the previous WMU record 53.90 meters set in 2014 by Andrea Hiler.

Davis hails from Grand Rapids, MI and has racked up three wins on the season. She finished in fourth place at the MAC Championship with a throw of 50.91 meters.
