Western Michigan football was voted to finish fourth in the Mid-American Conference’s Preseason Poll.
The poll was voted on by a 24-member panel at the MAC Football Kickoff at the House of Blues in Cleveland, Ohio.
Northern Illinois was selected to win the MAC West over the Broncos, with the Huskies receiving 112 points consisting of 11 first place votes. Toledo came narrowly in second, as the Rockets were picked to finish second with nine first place votes and a total of 120 points. Central Michigan was the last team ranked ahead of WMU, garnering 112 points and four first place votes.
Eastern Michigan came in fifth and within striking distance of the Broncos with 52 points, while Ball State was picked to finish last receiving only 42 points.
Miami was voted to top the MAC East division with 20 first place votes. The only other team to receive first place votes was Kent State with just three.
Not only was NIU selected to win the MAC West, but the Huskies were also chosen to win the MAC Championship, racking up nine championship votes. Toledo received six, Miami received five, with Central Michigan rounding out the contenders with four.
