WMU men’s basketball was projected to finish last in the Mid-American Conference by the 2020-21 MAC men’s basketball preseason coaches poll.
The MAC coaches do not think that the Broncos can improve from last season’s struggles. WMU finished last in the MAC West last season with a 13-19 record and a 6-12 record in the conference.
A key returning player for the Broncos is redshirt junior Kawanise Wilkins, who played in all 32 games in the 2018-19 season and was third on the team in rebounds with 150 before redshirting last season due to injury. Another key player for the Broncos is sophomore guard B.Artis White, who started nearly every game and was ranked third on the team in points, averaging 7.3 per game.
Coming off a solid freshman season is sophomore Titus Wright, who was selected to the MAC All-Freshman Team last season. Wright scored 6.2 points per game last season and averaged four rebounds per game. Wright will be the starting center for the Broncos this season.
Bowling Green was projected to win the regular season and the tournament title. The Falcons received eight first-place votes for the regular season and four votes to win the MAC tournament. Bowling Green also had one player selected to the first and second All-MAC teams. No players from Western Michigan were selected to an All-MAC team.
The Broncos begin its season on Nov. 25 at Butler. Tipoff is at 6 p.m. EST.
