WMU volleyball earned an honorable mention from PrepVolleyball.com in its recruiting class rankings for 2020.
The highly-ranked class that head coach Colleen Munson pulled in consists of Barakat Adekola, an outside hitter/middle blocker from Aurora, Illinois; Mairead Boyle, a libero/defensive specialist from Palos Heights Illinois; Logan Case, a setter from Maineville, Ohio; Andelyn Simkins, an outside hitter from Schoolcraft, Michigan; and Abi Wilcoxsin, an outside hitter from Spring Arbor, Michigan.
Adekola was a three-sport athlete in high school, competing in volleyball, basketball and track and field. She earned All-Conference and All-Area honorable mentions in volleyball.
Boyle was a two-time state champion in high school, served as a captain her senior year when she earned All-Conference honors and was named to the AVCA Under Armour All-American Watch List. She led her team to a 34-2 regular-season record her senior year.
Case helped her school go a combined 77-8 in her career while capturing two state titles. Case was named Conference and District Player of the Year while being named a Third Team Under Armour All-American. She earned First Team All-State honors two consecutive seasons and was a Prep Volleyball All-American in 2018.
Simkins became her school’s career leader in kills and digs, becoming just the 18th player in Michigan High School Athletics Association history to record 2,000 career digs. She earned First Team All-State honors twice along with a Second Team All-State selection her freshman year. She also was a three-time First Team All-Conference and All-Region honoree and was one of 10 finalists for Michigan Miss Volleyball in her senior season.
Wilcoxson helped guide her school to a 44-4-1 record in her three years as a varsity starter. She was named team MVP each of the last two years and earned All-Conference, All-District, All-Region and All-State honors her senior year.
