Five juveniles were apprehended by Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety officers responding to reports of vehicle break-ins at around 12:21 a.m.

According to a KDPS press release, as officers arrived at the 1500 block of Kickapoo Court, about a mile from WMU’s main campus, they encountered suspects fitting the given description fleeing on foot. Officers apprehended five juvenile suspects believed to be involved with the break-ins. One of the juveniles was involved in a vehicle theft earlier Thursday night.

Two of the juveniles were taken into custody while the other two were released to their guardians.

Officers found stolen property and are trying to locate the rightful owners, the release continues. Police believe that there are additional victims who gave not been identified and are asking anyone who thinks their vehicle has been broken into to reach out to the department.

The release concludes by asking residents to lock their vehicles and remove valuables when parking.
