Weekend offers events in the arts

The weekend is so full of events that there isn’t room to post all of them. Here are a few extra things the Western Herald wouldn’t want you to miss.
Bad Dates — Sept. 11-27
A one-woman play about journey and self-discovery covering everything from dealing with a teenage daughter to shoes and the comedy of a bad date. Tickets are $10 for students and the show starts at 8 p.m. at the Epic Theatre.
Volcom Tour — Sept. 13
If you don’t mind the travel to Grand Rapids, The Orbit Room will feature Motorhead, Misfits, Valient Thorr and Year Long Disaster. The bands will play this Saturday starting at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are available on ticketmaster.com starting $27.
The End of Summer Block Party — Sept. 13
Wild Bull and Monaco Bay extend the party into Edwards Street with perfromances from Frankie Ballard, Their Teeth Will Be Of Lions, and Spacelift. Tickets are $5.
Community Arts Awards — Sept. 11
The Arts Council of Greater Kalamazoo will be honoring local artists this Thursday. A special dinner will be served at 5:30 p.m. and following is the 8 p.m. award ceremony, which is open to the public. Contact the Arts Council of Greater Kalamazoo for dinner tickets.
