The Western Michigan University women’s soccer team started their season off with a bang. The Broncos’ 2010 season began Friday, Aug. 13 with a 1-0 win over the University of Detroit Mercy.
It took a while for the Broncos to get in gear but that changed in the 38th minute. Anina Cicerone, the former Mid-American Conference All-Freshman honoree scored, giving the Broncos a 1-0 lead.
Last season, Cicerone was second on the team in points with seven.
Both WMU keepers saw action on the field Friday. Senior Julia Francy started the first half and freshman Michelle Watson finished off the game in the second. Each keeper showed their skills by making a pair of saves in their 45 minutes of action apiece.
