Women’s basketball blows out K-College in final exhition contest

The Western Michigan University women’s basketball team completed its exhibition season with a 94-50 win over Kalamazoo College Sunday at University Arena.

Junior forward Kemmy Dominique led the Broncos with 19 points. Three other Broncos were in double figures as sophomore forward Miame Giden scored 17 with junior forward Brenna Bankston and freshman forward DeAirra Goss had 15 and 13 points respectively.

Western Michigan shot 49.4 percent from the floor for the game and outrebounded the Hornets 51-32.

Goss and Giden led WMU on the boards with eight rebounds each.

The Broncos set the tone early in the game as they were up 50-17 at half and shot 51.7 percent from the floor in the opening half and held K-College to a 17.4 percent shooting percentage in the first half and 32.7 percent for the game.

Western Michigan begins the regular season Friday against the University of Vermont at the Sheraton Wolfpack Invitational, hosted by North Carolina State University in Raleigh, N.C. The Broncos will then face either NC State or Florida International University Saturday.
