The Western Michigan University women’s soccer team improved to 2-0 this past after defeating Oakland University, 2-0, at the WMU Soccer Complex on Parkview Dr.
Junior winger Stephanie Skowneski helped the Broncos control the pace of the game after attacking a shot on goal within the first minute of play.
The Broncos got on the board at the 10 minute mark after a cross by Caitlin Henderson was headed into the Oakland net by one of their own defenders.
WMU took advantage of an awarded corner at the 37 minute mark courtesy of Nicole Dulyea’s play-making skills.
Dulyea scored her first goal of the season, which gave the Broncos a 2-0 lead.
Although her stat sheet wasn’t filled, junior Nikollete Rivera contributed mightly.
The junior did all she could by controlling the midfield all afternoon.
With the Broncos dominating the possession battle, senior goalkeeper Julia Francy only needed to make three saves.
The Broncos continue their non-conference play as they travel to Ind. on Wednesday, Sept. 1 to face Indiana University. Kick-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
