WMU women’s tennis wins doubleheader at West Hills Athletic Club

The Western Michigan University women’s tennis team took both matches Saturday at West Hills Athletic Club, defeating Cleveland State, 6-1, and Detroit Mercy, 6-1.
Zeeland, Mich. native Jill Pastunink remained undefeated after two wins at the No. 1 doubles spot (8-1), a win at No. 4 singles against Cleveland State (6-1, 6-4) and No. 5 singles against Detroit (6-1, 6-1).
Freshman Maggie Remynse also finished the day 4-0 after defeating Cleveland State’s Maria Lazaris (6-1, 6-0) at the No. 2 singles slot and overcoming a deficit in the No. 1 singles spot against Sophie Sundstrom from Detroit Mercy (3-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-5)). Remynse also took two wins at the No. 3 doubles slot.
The Lady Broncos will head to the University of Michigan on Wednesday to face the No. 20 ranked team at 1 p.m.
