By Zeke Trezevant

Western Michigan University has earned the American Volleyball Coaches Association Team Academic Award for the second season in a row and the third time in head coach Colleen Munson’s five seasons as head coach.

The award began in the 1992-1993 school year. It honors college and high school volleyball teams that display excellence in the classroom by maintaining a 3.30 cumulative team grade point average on a 4.0 scale or a 4.10 cumulative team GPA on a 5.0 scale.

The Broncos finished the school year with six players exceeding the 3.30 GPA goal with senior Allyson Doyle leading the way. The other players to surpass that marker were Katie Eberling , Elizabeth “Boo” Sweeney , Jessica Brown,  Jillian Mitchell  and  Sam Viox.
