FIRST QUARTER

WMU defers to second half.

Toledo’s opening drive was 8 plays 67 yards in less than three minutes to take a 7-0 lead.

The Broncos came out with a lazy opening drive to match the Rockets. A three and out was the result.

Toledo got into the WMU red-zone with ease on its second possession, but the WMU D holds the Rockets to a field goal. 10-0 Toledo.

WMU on the other hand goes three and out on back to back drives to begin the MAC season at home.

Rockets big play offense strikes again to push the Toledo lead to 17-0.

WMU offense remains without a first down after 3 drives and the entire first quarter.

SECOND QUARTER

WMU blocked a Toledo field goal for the first time since Drew Nowak did in 2010. The WMU offense got the first 1st down with eight minutes to go in the half, but a VanTubbergen interception gave Toledo the ball back.

That drive ended with a Rockets FG. 20-0 Rockets.

WMU QB Tyler VanTubbergen strikes to Jaime Wilson for a 22-yard TD to cut the Rockets lead to 13 at the half.

Toledo had 336 offensive yards to WMU’s 120.

Drastic adjustments on both sides of the ball will be needed for a Broncos MAC win tonight.

HALFTIME

THIRD QUARTER

WMU starts with the ball and a three and out, but a refs controversy after a booming 63-yard punt results in a WMU safety.

20-9 Rockets.

VanTubbergen throws a pick-six to give the Rockets a 27-9 lead with ten to go in the third quarter.

VanTubbergen tosses third interception on ensuing pick-six drive. Toledo looks to put the game out of reach this drive.

Toledo all but puts the game out of reach with another TD; 34-9 Rockets

WMU drives into Toledo red-zone but turns the ball over on downs.

Brian Fields scores on a 48-yard rushing TD with under a minute to go in the third quarter.

FOURTH QUARTER

Toledo adds a field goal after a 12-play, 80-yard drive, taking over five minutes off the clock.

37-17 Rockets

WMU continues to fight and drives into Toledo redzone before Chance fumbles the ball away to the Rockets.

Toledo defeats WMU 37-17 in MAC opener at Waldo Stadium.

Rockets running back David Fluellen went for over 200 yards on the ground on 21 carries averaging more than a first down a carry. The Brown and Gold have allowed a 200-yard back in consecutive seasons against the Rockets.

The Broncos were thoroughly dominated on both sides of the ball tonight.

WMU running back Dareyon Chance had 102 rushing yards and Jaime Wilson added 10 catches for 103 yards in the loss.
