The season is upon us

The time for waiting is over.
The Western Michigan University Broncos will open the football season this weekend as they head to East Lansing on Saturday to face the Spartans of Michigan State University.
The spotlight is nothing new for the Bill Cubit coached team.
The Brown and Gold opened last season on road at another in-state Big Ten foe, the University of Michigan Wolverines.
The Broncos never seem to open up the season easily and that’s the way they like it.
An up-and-coming program scheduling cupcake opponents never gains any credibility and the Broncos know it.
With every passing year, WMU’s football program gains more press and this season’s schedule will send this to its pinnacle.
Sophomore quarterback Alex Carder will be starting under center and his tendency to run the ball adds another weapon to the Broncos offense.
This team has 12 seniors and it possesses Mid-American Conference Championship aspirations.
There is no better way to open the season than to get a win against a Big Ten school on national television.
Of course, the Broncos are the underdog but it would be very surprising if this game wasn’t decided in the final minutes.
The Broncos have the talent to compete with the Spartans and they will.
Coach Cubit and the Broncos upset the Spartans in East Lansing.
WMU 31, MSU 27.
