Strimel wins defensive player of the week for second time in 2009

(Western Herald file photo) Senior libero Caitlin Strimel has been named MAC West Defensive Player of the Week

Senior libero Caitlin Strimel has been named Mid-American Conference West Division Defensive Player of the Week Monday.

This is the second time that Strimel has won the award and the fourth time in her career. She recorded a total of 51 digs, averaging 7.29 digs per set, in wins over Kent State University and Ohio University last weekend. Strimel recorded a season-high 32 digs against the Golden Flashes on Friday.

Strimel is currently averaging 3.20 digs per set with a total of 304 this season.
