Softball loses 1-0 to Miami

Billstrom’s home run off Western Michigan University pitcher Meredith Whitney in the sixth inning gave the RedHawks the 1-0 win and the Mid-American Conference Championship.

Whitney (17-11) stroke out one and walked only one in the loss.

However, the Broncos had no answer for freshman Miami pitcher Jessica Simpson.

Simpson pitched a complete game shotout, giving up only two hits with six strikeouts and  walking two.

Whitney and Gracice Barstad were named to the All-Tournmanet Team.
