Junior outside hitter Michelle Moore has been named the Mid-American Conference West Volleyball Player of the Week for the second time this season and third time in her career at Western Michigan University.

Moore compiled 44 kills in two roads wins for the Broncos (18-3, 9-1 MAC) last weekend. She chipped in 17 kills in the 3-1 win over Kent State University on Friday and added 27 more in WMU’s 3-2 victory over Ohio University. Both kill totals were match-highs. She also hit .289 and averaged 2.33 digs per set in the two contests.

Following the weekend series, Moore also moved into the No. 5 slot all-time at WMU in kills over the weekend, surpassing former Bronco Shaylen Jackson. Moore now has 1,261 career kills.

Moore also picked up the award on Oct. 13 after racking up 27 kills and a .299 hitting percentage in WMU’s victories over the University of Toledo and Ball State University.

This is the fifth time overall that a Bronco has been selected for the honor. Junior setter Jillian Mitchell (Sept. 8), sophomore middle blocker Jaime Gotham (Sept. 22) and junior libero Caitlin Strimel (Sept. 29) have also been selected as the MAC West POTW.

The Broncos will stay on the road for two matches this week. The Brown and Gold will face Northern Illinois University on Oct. 30, followed by a meeting with Bowling Green State University on Nov. 1.
