Michigan better than MSU? No doubt about it

The University of Michigan and Michigan State University are both 4-0, but let’s not get to carried away.

Need I remind every U of M fan that they were 4-0 this time last year and finished with a less than impressive record of 5-7 with their only other win coming against Delaware State.

And as for Michigan State, well, they seem to have a bad history of letting a good start slip away from them.

In 2005 and 2007, MSU started out 4-0 only to finish at or one game above .500. On that note, both times MSU lost to U of M, the rest of their season just went down the drain, finishing 5-6 in 2005 and 7-6 in 2007.

MSU reminds me of the Detroit Lions and the similarities are quite interesting.

Every year is the year for MSU but new players fail them constantly, coaches are always coming and going every few years and fans always show up hoping for a win but leave after a loss, wondering why they just wasted their Saturday on the Spartans yet again.

Oh, don’t tell me this year is going to be different because it’s not.

So what if you beat Michigan two years in a row? And I get it, that national championship back in 1966 still hangs over your head. Refresh my memory though, when was the last time they won a Big Ten title? Oh, that’s right – 1990.

Plus, the only teams MSU has played are average at best. I must admit though, that game-winning fake field goal was impressive against Notre Dame.

So where does U of M fall into place here? Well, clearly they’re the better program; the greatest actually.

No you say? Well they do have the most wins, highest win percentage, most undefeated seasons and are they only program to have winning records against every conference in the NCAA.

Yes, I’m well aware of the last two seasons that have fallen upon Michigan and MSU fans, I finally feel your pain.

Michigan is showing signs of rebuilding. At the moment, they have the No. 1 offense in the country led by superstar Denard Robinson.

However, the defense is pure garbage, just terrible.

Two weeks ago, I almost saw flashbacks of the 2007 game against Appalachian State as the Wolverines barely escaped with a five-point victory margin. Still, they came out strong and destroyed Bowling Green 65-21, putting up 722 yards in total offense.

MSU will be mediocre at best, just like every year, and U of M will once again be put on the spot every single week. Saturday the two teams will face off in Ann Arbor.

My prediction: Michigan 49, MSU 37.

  1. So you’re still living in the past? This season’s MSU-UM game is Ann Arbor, which gives U of M an advantage. It won’t be enough, though. My prediciont? MSU 38, UM 31

  2. I wouldn’t have too much confidence in Michigan at this point. They haven’t proven anything other than the fact that Rich Rod owes his life to Denard Robinson. This Saturday will be a scary one, for both Wolverine and Spartan fans. Michigan is facing the most resistant defense they have battled yet this season, and their defensive incompetence might actually cost them a game this time. Lets face it…it will eventually. Their defense is just poor, poor, poor. Lets just hope Denard doesn’t sit out most of the game because of another piddling injury.

    Go Blue!

  3. LOL Nice prediction, idiot. umich blows!
