For the third time this season, a Bronco has been named Mid-American West Player of the Week, as senior linebacker Boston McCornell was selected for the defensive version of the award Monday.
McCornell was selected following his 10-tackle performance in Saturday’s 7-3 victory at Temple University.
Of those, six tackles were solo efforts. He also forced a fumble, and recovered one in the closing seconds of the game that sealed Western Michigan University’s win.
McCornell is currently third on Western Michigan University’s roster with 31 tackles this season, including 18 solo through five games this season.
Senior safety Louis Delmas and junior quarterback Tim Hiller are the other two recipients of the honor for the Brown and Gold. The MAC selected Delmas on Sept. 6 after he had 10 tackles, a fumble recovery and an interception in WMU’s 29-26 victory over MAC rival Northern Illinois University on Sept 6. Hiller went 23-for-31 with 241 passing yards and four touchdowns in WMU’s 51-28 road win over the University of Idaho on Sept. 13.
The Broncos (4-1, 2-0 MAC) will host conference rival Ohio University on Saturday for this year’s homecoming contest. The matchup with the Bobcats will kick off at 2 p.m.
