Kalamazoo Speedway offers more than just an average racing schedule

The variety of events that the Kalamazoo Speedway offers is unlike any other short-track in the world.
From world records to buses dragging boats, this is the fastest 3/8 mile, paved track in the world.
Kalamazoo Speedway opened its gates in 1950 and has been growing ever since. Present owners Gary and Donna Howe value their fanbase and all of the events that they offer fans on a yearly basis.
“We offer a lot of special events each season that aren’t your regular races,” co-owner Donna Howe said. “We have seven Enduro races a year, which are the most popular events, the last one is on Oct. 17, and is always a great turnout.”
This is just the tip of the iceberg of events that Kalamazoo Speedway has to offer on a weekly basis. Its regular schedule offers weekly classes – Klash Super Series, Late Models, Modifieds, Sportsman, Pure Stocks, and Cyber Stocks.
On Sept. 19, a world record was broken at the track during the “Call of the Wild” weekend. Driver Curt Spalding broke his own world record with a lap clocked at 10.217 seconds.
“This is an extraordinary track,” Donna Howe said. “We’re the only NASCAR sanctioned track in the state of Michigan, and one of only 83 in the country. My drivers and sponsors are fantastic and are insured a shot at the big-time.”
Those used to attending events with $4 hot dogs and $6 beer will be surprised by Kalamazoo Speedway’s low impact on their pocketbooks.
Food is affordable and coolers up to a 14-inches cooler are allowed.
“Admission is reasonable and on most nights kids get in free,” Donna Howe said. “Our goal is to keep our fans coming back for generations to come.”
