After being named to the Davey O’Brien Award Watch List earlier in the week, senior quarterback Tim Hiller has been named to the Walter Camp Player of the Year Watch List.
Hiller is one of 30 players, 10 quarterbacks and two from the Mid-American Conference to make the list. The award is named after former Yale University coach Walter Camp, who is said to be “The Father of American football.”
The award was first given out in 1967 to University of Southern California running back OJ Simpson, who also won the award in 1968. University of Texas quarterback Colt McCoy was the 2008 Walter Camp Award winner.
Hiller and the Broncos begin camp this week and will open against the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor Sept. 5.
