Hiller named Wuerffel Trophy finalist

The accolades for Tim Hiller just keep on coming.
The senior quarterback was named one of 12 finalists for the Wuerffel Trophy on Wednesday, which awards the Division I Football Bowl Subdivision player that combines academic, athletic and community superiority.
Hiller has already set plenty of Bronco records as far as quarterbacks are concerned, and he may not be done yet. He is just six touchdown passes shy of 100, which would tie a Mid‑American Conference record.
The MAC and Big Ten Conference each had three nominees; no other conference had more than one. Temple University senior defensive back Dominique Harris and Central Michigan quarterback Dan LeFevour were the other two from the MAC to make the cut.
Other notables include University of Michigan punter Zoltan Mesko, Florida State University signal caller Christian Ponder and Michigan State University wide out Blair White.
The award is named after former University of Florida quarterback Danny Wuerffel. The other Tim – current Florida quarterback Tim Tebow, that is – won the award in 2008.
