On Wednesday, Western Michigan University junior Casey Cullen was named the MAC Men’s Tennis Player of the Week.
This is the second time this season and fourth career weekly award for Cullen.
At the HEB Tournament of Champions in Corpus Christi, Texas on March 5, Cullen led the Broncos to a 3-1 record. He started the week by sweeping both singles and doubles against South Alabama University. At No. 2 doubles, he won 8-4 and then came back in a 6-3, 6-3 victory in singles.
Cullen also defeated DePaul University’s Vanja Grgec, 6-2, 6-1, for his second victory this season over the Blue Demons. He also improved to 9-6 in dual match singles and 11-4 in dual match doubles this season, increasing his career wins to 118.
Cullen has won the MAC Player of the Week for his performance at the HEB Tournament for the past three consecutive seasons.
Western Michigan will return to the courts on March 15 when they host a double-header against Chicago State University at 1 p.m. and in-state rival Ferris State University at 6 p.m.
