On October 24, the Western Michigan University and Michigan State University football programs announced two more future matchups between each other.
The games will be in East Lansing’s Spartan Stadium to open the 2022 and 2025 seasons, in addition to a previously scheduled 2019 matchup. Per the contract between the two teams, the 2022 and 2025 matchups will pay out $1.5 million each to WMU, while the 2019 game pays out $1 million.
"We are excited to scheduling another series with Michigan State in 2022 and 2025," Broncos head coach Tim Lester said. "We have a great deal of respect for their football program and appreciate what an easy Big Ten road trip this is for our Bronco fans and the greater Kalamazoo community."
Including the future matchups, this brings the series between the two programs to 18 matchups, with the most recent ones being in 2017 in East Lansing and 2015 in Kalamazoo. The Spartans currently lead the historical series 13-2, with the last Bronco win coming in 1919.
