Letter to the editor: Ladd-Rettich slate has the passion for WMU’s issues

Though only in my freshman year at Western Michigan University, I have already had a chance to work with both candidates personally throughout this year. I have been a member of Drive Safe Kalamazoo executive board, of which Aaron Booth is chairperson, since late October. Shortly after, I became the WSA representative, where Andrew Ladd is the Speaker, for my other RSO Red Button Games.

Ladd’s concern for every RSO on campus, big and small, is what has won him my vote. The current system of allocations is setup in a way that it is has been of no help to us in smaller RSO’s. With no funds, we often have to pay for operations costs and event food out-of-pocket. Ladd wants to analyze and restructure how the SAF is distributed so every student can see some of the $21 dollars come back their way, and also give the smaller RSOs a fighting chance to stay afloat.

You don’t have to be in the College of Engineering long to feel a disconnect from main campus. Being a student from the College of Aviation, Andrew understands how a college can lose touch with the rest of campus and has had experience solving these issues as a founding member of the Aviation Student Council. His plans to set up student councils in each of the colleges will give students a more efficient way to voice their concerns and network with their peers.

When you vote for Ladd and Rettich you’re voting for slate that not only has experience with the issues but a passion for them.  A slate ready to help both big and small colleges and organizations be all they can be. A slate of exceptional leaders for the exceptional students that they maintain as their top priority.
