Police pursue vehicle through WMU campus

A police chase that went from Battle Creek to Van Buren county passed through Western Michigan University’s campus Sunday night, as an unidentified woman, who was reported as suicidal, fled from police at speeds up to 130 mph, according to the WMU Department of Public Safety.

A witness reported seeing police near the Student Recreation Center and the Roundabout near Howard Street. around 9 p.m.

The woman entered campus and drove around until she made her way out, going north on Howard Street and west onto West Main Street.

From there, she drove to Van Buren County where the State Police and Van Buren Sheriff’s Department stopped her. She was apprehended unharmed.

Kalamazoo Public Saftey said they had no further information regarding the event.
