It is interesting that the Western Herald opens with "Anna Salvaggio will replace Collin Mays as Western Student Association Vice President" despite later stating that this requires the confirmation of the Senate.

As a former Senate member myself, I am, frankly, disappointed with the lack of independence from the Senate. I supported the Nichols/Mays campaign when they took office and will continue to do so for Nichols, but the replacement of Mays was not well-publicized, and a primary part of the campaign is being replaced just after being elected.

I agree with the previous post that this post is presumptuous, as is the attitude from Nichols. I urge the senate to not support this replacement immediately and to not only take into consideration the need for a vice president but also the needs of the student body in making a careful decision. I have nothing against Salvaggio other than her previous failures to commit to WSA as her priority; after the fiasco with last year's president, it is important to make a wise choice.

Has the Senate become so reliant upon the cabinet that it can no longer dissent in any way? Now is their chance to prove otherwise.

Interesting how the western herald predicts the future, and their tweets contradict the content in this article.

This would have been the truly first time that anyone outside of the WSA cabinet had heard about this, mind the fact that interviews and even applications were not made public. (offering it to the general population at WMU as with most cabinet positions. While it is not required by the WSA constitution, it is pretty idiotic to claim this is what you did and to not have actually done it. )

furthermore, say what you want about Anna's experience, and it seems impressive on paper and paper alone, she's already added this position to LinkedIn which is public for anyone to see. This is highly disrespectful to the position of Vice President and to WSA as a whole, she does not have the position, just because President Nicholl nominated her doesn't mean she's been approved. This undermines the entire power of the WSA senate by falsely claiming she has a position when she really doesn't have it.

It seems to me once again President Nicholl picked his friend to serve in this position, once again as he did with the rest of his cabinet.
