A 46-year-old Kalamazoo man has been arrested for attempted burglary and malicious destruction of property after a break-in on Walnut Street Saturday morning.

Police responded to the house in the 600 block of W. Walnut Street after a resident found a man trying to break in.

The suspect broke through a window near the rear door but didn’t enter and fled before officers arrived.

Police found the 46-year-old man riding a bicycle away from the scene, at the corner of Park Street and Dutton Street. His shoes matched shoe prints in the snow at the scene and bike tracks were also found near the house.

Police jailed the man, who has prior convictions for breaking and entering, at the Kalamazoo County jail while the prosecutor’s office reviews the case.
