1. Ride the bus!
Bus routes for the City of Kalamazoo’s Metro Transit can be found on the Web: http://www.kalamazoocity.org/portal/metro.php?page_id=427.

2. Reduce Reuse Recycle
Many of your household materials can be recycled, not just cans and paper. For a complete list visit: http://www.benefits-of-recycling.com/whatmaterialscanberecycled.html.

3. Buy environmentally friendly products
From clothing, trash bags and cleaning solvents, many of your purchases can be just a little more helpful to Mother Earth.

4.Buy a water filter and re-use water bottles
It’s not only going to save you cash money, but it’ll save the earth as well.
According to the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, “Americans purchased nearly 31 billion bottles of water in 2006.”
Only 10 percent of the plastic water bottles are recycled while 90 percent ends up as garbage or litter, according to the NYDEC.

5. Save energy!
You can reap the monetary as well as environmental benefits. Unplug unused devices, or set a sleep timer on your TV if it aids you to sleep. Change to energy efficient light bulbs and turn off lights in rooms that aren’t occupied.
