KDPS arrest man breaking into Hunter’s Ridge apartment, track on foot

Kalamazoo Public Safety officers arrested a man Wednesday night for home invasion.

KDPS officers were patrolling the area of Hunter’s Ridge Apartments, 4130 West Michigan Ave., when they spotted a man lurking near the back of an apartment. When authorities approached the suspect, he fled on food.

Two canine officers tracked the suspect’s scent for an hour to Nottingham Apartment complex. They found his jacket, shoes, along with property that are believed to have been stolen, which included two laptops.

They 20-year old Kalamazoo man was arrested on two charges of home invasion and resisting arrest. When he was in custody, he was linked to a home invasion in the 1000 block of Ivy Chase on Dec. 22. The suspect’s fingerprints match those found at the scene of that crime.

The suspect is currently lodged in the Kalamazoo County jail, pending a review of the investigations by the prosecutor’s office.
