Holiday Guide: Best last-minute shopping ideas

Shopping for people can be tough. Shopping for the people you have forgot about can almost be impossible. As important as that first gift you purchased for whoever you care about most is, there is always that not-so-special someone you forgot to buy stuff for and need to rush to the store and get that gift before you look like a complete fool. Never fear though, there is somewhere that is almost always open for that special need.

The first places to look are usually stores that are open 24 hours a day. The best examples of these are Meijer, Wal-Mart, and Walgreens. These places are good because they offer a lot of everything. From food to toys, these stores carry it all, so it makes for a good place to shop for the very last minute. The only problem is that these stores do not always carry some older items. For example, if you end up shopping for a collector then a store like Meijer may not have what that person wants or is interested in, which is one reason why shopping for collectors at the last minute can be difficult.

There is one solution though that works for everyone, and that solution is the ever-handy gift card. The great thing about gift cards is that they can work for anybody. Need to buy a present for grandma? Get a gift card. The only problem with gift cards is that they are not very special, and it is possible to make someone feel left out or even forgotten. After all, half the fun of getting a gift is actually opening something.

The next option is to do-it-yourself. Making a gift, when done well, can sometimes be the best gift of all. It actually means something, and is particularly useful for giving a last minute gift to someone special. The only downside to this gift package is that when done terrible, the end feeling is much similar. Poorly made homemade junk can end up showing the exact opposite and make a person feel less appreciated. This gift idea is a use-at-your-own-risk double-edged sword, so use this idea with extreme caution.

The real best way to produce a gift at the last minute is to not leave anyone until the last minute. A few ways to prevent forgetting about people are to make a list and keep organized.

Shopping online can also help get rid of those last minute forgotten people by shopping for them before you have to do it last minute. Shopping online is really easy and doing it does not require leaving the house, the trick is that a person cannot do online shopping at the last minute because of shipping.
