Economics lecture set for Wednesday

Western Michigan University’s 46th Annual Werner Sichel Lecture Series will consist of a string of lectures on latest economic forecast advances.
The series will kick start Wednesday, Feb. 10, with a lecture by Dennis Jansen, Ph.D., an economics professor, the Mary Julia and George R. Jordan Professor in the Private Enterprise Research Center at Texas A&M University, and co-editor of the journal Economic Inquiry.
Jansen’s lecture topic titled “Forecasting and Asset Prices” will be held from 3 to 4.30 p.m. in Room 3508, Knauss Hall and is free and open to the public.
Having earned a doctoral degree in economics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1983, Jansen has been in the teaching and research field with numerous institutions, including the National University of Ireland, Limburg University, Catholic University, Indiana University, Erasmus University, Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis, and North Carolina State University.
Jansen, who was a Fulbright Scholar in 2008, has written two textbooks, published over 50 entries in professional journals and books, and made government and policy reports. He has also received grants from the National Science Foundation and the State of Texas.
This lecture series is organized by the WMU Department of Economics and cosponsored by the W.E. Upjohn Institute for Employment Research in honor of retired WMU economics professor, Dr. Werner Sichel.
