Drive Safe Kalamazoo Senator announces candidacy

Aaron Booth announced his plans to run for Western Student Association president yesterday at WSA’s weekly Wednesday meeting.

Booth has been a part of WSA for two years, serving as the Drive Safe Kalamazoo senator for the 2009-2010. As well as his presidency announcement, he announced his running mate, Joey Blaszcyk as his vice president.

Booth explained that he is not looking for drastic changes to be made within WSA, but to build on top of what the leaders of WSA this year have made.

“We want to make sure our student’s voices are heard,” said Booth.

Booth is studying public relations, and is the second person in his family to go to WMU. Booth is also the chairperson for Drive Safe Kalamazoo, an organization that gives free, non-judgmental rides home Thursdays through Saturdays. In addition Booth was just one of 38 students nationwide to win the National Humanics Award being identified as a future leader in nonprofit work and philanthropy in 2009.

Booth’s Vice President, Blaszcyk is studying sales and business marketing and currently serves as the Student Affairs Chair for WSA.

“I really enjoy advocating for students and their needs,” Booth said. “We vow to work for you and only you.”
