Cook’s Critique: Crow’s Nest

The Crow’s Nest has many cooksvegetarian and omnivore options at affordable prices. It’s a laid back restaurant that does not serve alcohol or dessert, but they make up for that with fancy sodas and coffee beverages. They have cool art on the wall and a little view of the quaint street below.

My raspberry Italian soda wasn’t too sweet but still had obvious raspberry flavor. My Dad ordered the Caesar salad with chicken.  Each lettuce leaf was clean crisp and dry, there was a generous portion of cheese, walnuts, dried cranberries and cucumbers. The presentation was as balanced as a simple salad could be. When our server was working the busy restaurant by himself (the kitchen forgot my Dad’s dressing and cheese) he did not assign blame, he did not act flustered he simply said, “Let me get that for you,” before we even noticed. He was an excellent server.

I ordered the Greek style hamburger, which consists of a toasted bun, medium rare beef patty, spinach, tangy kalamata olive tapenade, melted gooey feta cheese and creamy refreshing cucumber yogurt sauce known as  “tzatziki sauce.” The Mediterranean flavors made the ordinary hamburger exciting. No matter what main entrée you order, spring for the sweet potato fries. Not only are they salty and sweet, they have more vitamins and fiber than regular French fries. Crow’s Nest is located above Fourth Coast Café at, 816 S. Westnedge Ave #2. They are open everyday of the week.
Generally the Crow’s Nest opens at 8 a.m. and closes at 8 p.m. on most nights.
