On Aug. 26 WMU hosted Buster’s Moonlight Stampede, a new event to WMU’s Welcome Week activities.

(Karie Kuiper) Mikey Etlinger, a sophmore transfer student at WMU, checks out the map of campus on Tuesday. Maps are located around campus to help students locate their classes, buildings and parking lots.
The 3k run, which began and ended in front of the Student Recreation Center, was intended to provide freshmen with an opportunity to take a look around campus while getting some much needed exercise.
Sorority members joined the WMU dance and cheer teams to cheer on the runners along the course of the race. All participants were invited into the Student Recreation Center afterwards for the After Dark Activites which consisted of food, dance lessons, open basketball and volleyball courts, arts and crafts, a rock climbing wall, bull riding and an oxygen bar.
The oxygen bar, courtesy from Modern 3 Salon and Spa located on Western’s campus on Howard Street, refreshed and rejuvenated the runners after the stampede. Over 86 percent pure oxygen, the high concentration is mixed with flavored aromas for an increase in energy and stamina. The freshmen also received a free Fall Welcome t-shirt at the After Dark Activities.
Then on Sept. 2 the rest of the students joined the freshmen for the first day of class on campus.
