Fall semester is starting again and that means it is once again time for Western Michigan University’s One Stop Convenience Center to open its doors in the North Ballroom on the second floor of the Bernhard Center.
The temporary center opens Aug. 30 and closes Sept. 10 and is open on most days from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. except on Sept. 3 when the store will close at 5 p.m. and Sept. 10 when the store will close at 12 a.m.
The convenience center provides students with information on financial aid, registration, making payments and student accounts.
“The one-stop convenience center is an idea that we created a number of years ago,” Vice Provost for Strategic Enrollment Management Keith Hearit said.
“Students who are new to WMU as well as returning students can come and in one place get all of their questions answered and conduct as much of their university business as possible.”
Hearit said that the convenience center should provide students with everything they need to know in one place to prevent confusion and hassle.
“To me, it’s important for a couple of reasons; one is that we are really trying to keep it from being where students feel like they’re being moved around and not getting theirquestions answered,” Hearit said.
“One of the things I find exciting about that is that we have now done it a number a years in which students who are now juniors and seniors are well accustomed to it andautomatically do it.”
Hearit wanted to make special note and thanks to the Bronco Express Service Team, which is helping to make the event useful to students.
“I think its been very successful and I think one of the factors that has helped is that BEST, or the Bronco Express Service Team, is in the same facility,” Hearit said.
“Not only can you talk to admissions or information technology about a need that you might have, or replace your Bronco ID card, but you can also pay your bills, check your financial aid and all of those related things is nothing short of critical.”
