The Lions look to build upon productive draft

As the NFL minicamp’s approach, the Detroit Lions take the field ranked amongst the lowest teams in the league.

WMU gymnastics earns honors in the classroom

Sporting a 3.6323 grade point average, Western Michigan University placed fourth in the National Association of Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches/Women 2010 Academic Team Rankings.Out of a total of 15 members, four Broncos recorded a 4.0 and 11 others had GPA’s of 3.5 or better and each earned individual honors.In order to earn an individual honor, a student-athlete must receive at least a 3.50 GPA.

Lawson agrees to play in Germany

Former Western Michigan University men’s basketball center Donald Lawson has signed a contract to play in Germany next season for Chemnitz.

Chemnitz also signed former Bronco Stane Bufford last season. Bufford has experienced some success, averaging 14.6 points, 3.6 rebounds. 2.3 assists and 1.3 steals. He was also named to the Bundesliga Pro A All-Defensive Team.

Calderone brothers continue to dominate

Western Michigan University hosted the second round of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Midwest Summer Circuit at Sorensen Courts this past weekend. The event was highlighted by the duo of senior Michael Calderone and sophomore Thomas Calderone. The team won the doubles championship for the second time in as many weeks.

Kobe Bryant leads the Lakers to the championship

Game 7 of the 2010 National Basketball Association Finals was make or break for everyone involved. No one had more on the line than Kobe Bryant.Bryant entered the 2010 campaign coming off of a championship season. Last year’s championship came against the Orlando Magic though.The Magic aren’t the Celtics. There is no such thing as a Lakers/Magic rivalry and the Magic didn’t embarrass the Lakers in 2008.
