Womens softball sweeps Bowling Green in home double-header.
Western Michigan women’s softball team swept Bowling Green today to bring their conference record to 5-1. Meredith Whitney took the first win for the Broncos, and although it wasn’t a shut out Bowling Green was only able to score two runs, and the Broncos were able to bring in five runs to take the win, 5-2. Michelle Bendewald, Sarah Thomas, Lauren Fuller, Chelsea Westenburg, and Lexi Jager were the five ladies that scored for the Broncos. Meghan Thomas took the win for the Broncos in the second game, and for the first time in her career she had seven strike outs in a row, and Bowling green was only able to score one run, and the Broncos were able to bring in seven players to win the game, 7-1. The Broncos that scored in the second game were, Samantha Vargocko, and Lexi Jager who scored two runs each, and Gracie Barstad, Meghan Thomas, and Amanda McBride all scored one run. The Broncos will take on Toledo on Saturday, and Sunday to hopefully continue their winning streak.
