The models of Western Michigan University’s Merchandising Opportunities Design Association lit up the Kalamazoo County Expo Center this weekend.
MODA held its Urban Fusion fashion show on Friday and Saturday nights.
Thirty nine models walked the stage, showing off the colorful, eccentric fashions of the organization’s own Avant Garde line, along with clothing collections by individual MODA fashion designers. Collections included works by MODA members Zoe Valette, Brandi O’Dell, and Chadwick Dillon.
MODA merchandise, including cups, T-shirts, and bags, was available for purchase during the show. There was also a raffle during intermission.
Like previous Fusion shows, the first one taking place in 2002, proceeds were donated to the Southwest Michigan branch of Susan G. Komen for the Cure, an organization dedicated to fighting breast cancer.
“I want to thank MODA for everything they have done,” said Ann Feldmeier, vice president of Southwest Michigan’s Susan G. Komen for the Cure branch.
“Without your energy, this all would not have been possible.”
Zach Spencer, a WMU senior, was the show’s master of ceremonies.
“I am proud to say that they are all Broncos,” Spencer said. “These are the most talented designers in the university, and the school should be proud to have them.”
This show marks Spencer debut as the show’s master of ceremonies.
“I definitely want to do this again next year,” Spencer said.
“It is really a good show. You can tell a lot of thought was put into it,” said DJ Souler45, who DJed the show.
