Welcome back everyone, and a Happy New Year to all! I hope your holidays were filled with bundles of laughter, heaps of great food, and fun that ran into the odd hours of the night.
As we kick start the New Year and a new semester, this week’s restaurant of choice is a frequent breakfast and brunch place to many other than myself. Serving great tasting breakfast specials with warm inviting service, Crow’s Nest, is the pick for the week.
Located on South Westnedge Avenue, above Fourth Coast Café, Crow’s Nest is a simple loft restaurant, with warm and inviting wood deco, brick walls, and relaxing atmosphere. The service is prompt and the food all worth the wait, as Crow’s Nest can be quite packed during the peek hours of breakfast and lunch.
The menu at Crow’s Nest consists of a variety of omelets, wraps, burgers, and breakfast combos, all made to order. However, if you get caught not knowing what you might want to have, I would suggest looking at the “Today’s Specials” board located next to the stairwell. The specials are always interesting and ever so delicious.
One of the great things about Crow’s Nest that sets them apart from your typical breakfast place are the choices they provide for vegetarians and vegans. Everything on the menu which consist of meat, like sausages or beef burgers, can be substituted with a vegetarian sausage (which is really flavorful), or a vege burger.
For this visit I had the house favorite, Breakfast Burrito, with a side of their amazing banana bread. A friend of mine had the vegetarian burger, with sweet potato fries. The breakfast burrito is a huge burrito fill with eggs, sausage, peppers and onions and served with their homemade red pepper aioli. The egg filling was well seasoned and taste great with aioli. The vege burger was perfect and the sweet potato fries were crispy with that great hint of sweetness.
All in all Crow’s Nest is said to be one of the best places to grab a bite after a late night hangover, or a great place to just hang out and have a long brunch with friends. I am sure everyone has a whole bunch of catching up to do after the holidays, why not have some great food to go with all that chatter?
I bid you good eating…..
