Taste of the Town: Thai Cuisine

This week I took a spicy visit to Drake Road’s Thai Cuisine restaurant. Lined with ruby and gold wall paper, and decorated with numerous Thai photos and ornaments, the Thai Cuisine restaurant provides a casual fine-dining atmosphere with a simple touch of elegance.
The menu at Thai Cuisine consists of a good number of appetizers like cucumber salad and a combo appetizer that yields satay, fried tofu, spring rolls and crab rangoon with dipping sauces. Entrées that range from the high priced filet mignon with a spicy chili sauce, to deep-fried frog legs, and roast duck with a red curry sauce.
After being seated and having some time with the menu, the two of us finally decided on the tom yam soup with vegetables, the pad Thai with chicken, and the roast duck with red curry.
The tom yam soup arrived first and we savored the mild spices of the soup, which was a spicy broth with an assortment of vegetables that was well seasoned and quite delightful. The pad Thai came thereafter followed by the duck with red curry.
The pad Thai was filled with chicken, green and red onion, bits of egg accented with crunchy bean sprouts, and carrot slivers. The noodles were cooked just right, and the pad Thai sauce combined all the different ingredients to give each bite great flavor and aroma.
However, the highlight of our visit to Thai Cuisine was the roast duck with red curry. The duck was crispy on the outside, and tender on the inside. The red curry was creamy, rich, and robust with a nice balance of flavors. Served with a bowl of fragrant rice, the dish came together nicely with the sweet flavors of vegetables paired with the duck and curry. A must try when visiting Thai Cuisine.
All in all, Thai Cuisine is a really great place for the choice of something a little spicy. However, the prices can be a little steep, with a good dinner for 2 setting you back between $25 to $35. Nevertheless, you can always expect great service and good food at Thai Cuisine.
