The Bullock Performance Institute’s Live and Interactive! series continued on Wednesday with Lori Sims, pianist and Professor of Music at Western Michigan University .
Sims’ performance started with Ludwig van Beethoven’s “15 Variations and a Fugue on an Original Theme in E-Flat Major, Opus 35 (Eroica Variations).” Sims followed that up with Clara Wieck Schumann’s “Romance in E-Flat Minor” and Serge Rachmaninoff’s “Prelude in C Minor, Opus 23, Number 7.” Sims finished the show with “Ballade in G Minor, Opus 23,” “Ballade in F Major, Opus 38,” “Ballade in A-Flat Major, Opus 47,” and “Ballade in F Minor, Opus 52” by Frederic Chopin.
After the performance, Sims was surprised with an announcement by piano manufacturer Steinway & Sons. Sims was made the newest Steinway & Sons artist, joining the likes of Harry Connick Jr., Billy Joel, Diana Krall and WMU legend Steve Zegree.
The Western Herald was unable to talk to Lori Sims after the show.
