One hit could ruin your whole day.

Yep, that is the tagline for “Pineapple Express,” the upcoming Miller Movie, hosted by the Campus Activity Board (CAB). The movie is scheduled to play tonight, Oct. 29 at 9 p.m. at Miller Auditorium.  The cost is $1 for students and $2 for anybody else.

The previous Miller Movie was “Wall-E” featured on Oct. 8 and the attendance for the movie was approximately 1,200 people.

““Pineapple Express” has had a more vocal response than “Wall-E” has,” Joe Stando, the 2008-2009 Miller Movie Coordinator said.  “So we are expecting at least as many people as Wall-E had.”

“Pineapple Express” is a comedy written by Evan Goldberg, Seth Rogen and Judd Apatow and directed by David Gordon Green.  Comedian Seth Rogen (“Knocked Up,” “Superbad”) plays the role of Dale Denton, a lazy stoner and court-process clerk who finds himself in an unusual situation with his drug dealer Saul Silver, played by James Franco (“Spiderman”), according to sonypictures.com.

Saul sells Dale a rare blend of marijuana known as pineapple express.  While smoking the new blend in his car, Dale witnesses a murder and he panics, dropping his roach of pineapple express at the scene. After talking to Saul, Rogen’s character realizes that the pineapple express is so rare that it could be traced back to them.

The road down the express begins with the two of them running for safety, yet they soon discover that they are not just stoned with paranoia. They are actually in danger and these bad guys have every intention of killing them both.  Pineapple Express was released to theatres Aug. 6 and was nominated for Best Comedy by the Golden Trailer Awards.

The fact that the movie is only a dollar makes the event accessible to college students, even the many who are struggling to save.  For many students, anything that costs a dollar these days is a great deal, especially considering that one dollar isn’t even enough to rent a movie let alone go to the movies.  Miller Auditorium may not be the same thing as going to the theatres but it has the same effect.

“Seth Rogen and James Franco are hysterical together! I saw it in the theaters and it kept me laughing throughout the whole thing,” Western Michigan University sophomore Jackie Carmody said. “I definitely will go again for a dollar.”

Joe Stando anticipates two more Miller Movies scheduled for this semester and five movies for spring semester. The next Miller Movie is going to be “The House Bunny,” starring Anna Faris and is scheduled to play Nov. 12 at 9 p.m. The same pricing applies.

“Death From Below”, a slam poetry duo, is the next Campus Activity Board (CAB) performance scheduled for Nov. 5 at 9 p.m. in the Bernhard Center.
