Michael Beauchamp to light up Bell’s

Folk artists Michael Beauchamp and the Barn Roughs will be playing Bell’s Brewery in Kalamazoo on Saturday, Jan. 30 with Special guest Mike Shimmin. The show will cost $5 at the Bell’s Brewery door at 9 p.m. and is open to the general public.
Michael Beauchamp is a Kalamazoo native who is currently working on songs that will make up his second album. The Barn Roughs are a collection of Beauchamp’s favorite musicians, including Ian Gorman, of the Red Sea Pedestrians, Mark Lavengood of Winter/Session, and Susan Fawcett and Earthwork Music staple over the past 8 years. The Barn Roughs’ live shows are vibrantly highlighted by their infectious energy and joy of playing together.
With his mournful guitar licks and incredibly powerful voice, Michael Beauchamp beautifully of lost love, travel and the importance of live music. While attending the University of Michigan, Beauchamp played in such folk bands as The Dumb and Ugly Club and The Ambitious Brothers.
Beauchamp is part of the vibrant and growing Michigan Music scene as a member of the Earthwork Music Collective. Many members of the group helped him to produce his debut solo album, “My Northern Voices” in 2008.
Beauchamp’s music includes songs such as Muddy Shore, which is a track off of his first album which includes eerie, folkie tones that reach a beautiful melodic chorus that can be felt on emotional levels. Others include “Last song of the night,” “Hill Walkin’,” “Somewhere between MT and MI,” “At the Square dance,” and “Ann’s Growing Day”.All of which are touching, charming songs that reach listeners and truly send a message of love, life and Michael Beauchamp’s joy of live music.
Michael Beauchamp and the Barn Roughs played at the Strutt on Jan. 27, so if missed, they can be seen this Saturday at 9 p.m. at the beautiful Bell’s Brewery aside a micro brew and some great people. Tickets are $5 dollars at the door and anyone in the general public is able to attend.
