Western Michigan University’s Matt Tennyson and Chase Balisy earned Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) Player of the Week awards on Monday.
Western Michigan University Athletics will be bringing the annual ‘Jet to the Gym’ promotion back to University Arena on Wednesday, Feb. 2, during the men’s basketball game against Kent State University.

In mid-December, it seemed that a Green Bay Packers playoff run was largely in doubt after a 7-3 loss at the hosting Detroit Lions. Packers starting quarterback, Aaron Rodgers, suffered a concussion in that game, and a loss to the Lions is always disheartening. Apparently for “The Pack,” it was just the kick-start the team needed.

Nearly two dozen people attended a rally Wednesday to commemorate the six-month anniversary of a pipeline burst, which leaked over 800,000 gallons of oil into the Kalamazoo River.
The rally, which was held near Western Michigan University’s Haenicke Hall, called for oil company Enbridge to be held accountable for the damage, and for lawmakers to make alternative energy sources a priority.

The new program, known as the Lifelong Learning Academy, offers non-credit courses in a variety of subject areas. It focuses on students ages 50 and up, but there are no membership requirements.
