For the first time in two decades, a former Western Michigan University athlete will represent his team in the NFL’s season-ending Pro Bowl.
Wide receiver Greg Jennings (Green Bay Packers) and defensive end Jason Babin (Tennessee Titans) have become the first Broncos to earn a spot in the Pro Bowl since John Offerdahl (Miami Dolphins) in 1987, 1988 and 1990.

The Western Michigan University men’s basketball team travelled to Logan, Utah this past week to compete in the World Vision Invitational. Playing three games in as many days, the Brown and Gold finished the tournament with a 1-2 record.

Playing their second game in as many nights and facing a team that had not lost on its home court in 20 games, the Western Michigan University men’s basketball team was unable to overcome a tough Utah State University team, falling 78-57 in front of nearly 8,000 fans Wednesday night.

A 21-year-old man is currently being held in the Kalamazoo County Jail after he turned himself in at 11 a.m. Wednesday morning in connection to two armed robberies that occurred on Western Michigan University’s campus on Monday. According to Kalamazoo police, the man is not a student at WMU. Stay tuned to westernherald.com for updates.

The Western Michigan University women’s basketball team played three games this week, bringing them to 3-8 overall on the season.
On Tuesday, WMU traveled down to Cape Girardeau, Mo., to face the Redhawks of Southeast Missouri State University, losing 56-60.

The Western Michigan University women’s basketball team ended its seven-game losing streak Sunday afternoon against Youngstown State University in a 69-64 overtime win.
This was the seventh meeting between the two teams with the last meeting being in 1991.

Western Michigan University has been cited at No. 12 on the list of the universities with the worst professors.
The Center for College Affordability compiled a list from teacher evaluation data on the popular Rate My Professors website. This website is a tool students can use to help decide whether or not they want to sign up for a class with a specific professor based on past feedback.

After peppering the net to no avail in the first game and coming away with an ugly 5-3 loss, Western Michigan University really stepped up their game in the Saturday leg of this weekend’s series.

The Western Michigan University women’s basketball teamed hosted No. 15/20 Michigan State University Friday night in what would be a homecoming for Spartan freshman, Cetera Washington, who is a graduate of Loy Norrix High School.
Washington finished with nine points and nine rebounds in the 62-50 Spartan win.
